Frequently Asked SEO Questions :: FAQ

Q:

Where does content come from
Can content be added from me? If so, how quickly can it be incorporated? Will incorporating it compromise the current rankings I enjoy?

A:

We will expect you to provide content in addition to the copy we create that is abstracted from what already exists on your website. While some of our clients (CoyleHospitality.com, FloorMall.com) entrust us with the complete responsibility to write their homepage content, or every word on their website, we appreciate your input and will always get it integrated into the website within a reasonable period of when we receive it, usually a few hours. Adding new content as intelligent extensions of your existing website should never compromise current positions.

Q:

Providing Updates for our Clients
Is your company willing to provide a 5 (or less) minute bi-weekly update on the progress being made and the future direction of our collective efforts?

A:

Of course, the update you describe is what we do for most clients already. It let's you know what was done or reviewed in the past interval, links to positioning reports if available, notes about the search engine landscape or anything else that you need to be aware of. We use these to keep short term goals in sight so that our mid and long term goals are met.

Q:

Using e-books on your website
Can an e-book that I have written be incorporated into the updated website, such that contact information, once captured, can produce an immediately downloadable set of instructions/advice to the prospect?

A:

If you want to require visitors to provide contact information prior to downloading the e-book, that is perfectly feasible. As far as producing a downloadable set of instructions, we'd need more information about this. If you want something simple, it'll be included in your monthly fees. If you envision something that will take 10-15 extra hours for us to develop, test and integrate, we might handle that as a bidded job. In general, refer to answer 1.

Q:

Keyword optimizing domains
Do domain names that carry certain key terms assist in the actual rankings of those key terms if the domain names are used by the website?

A:

Yes, provided those terms accurately describe your solutions. We would concentrate on your main website and if you have other good domains we can recommend activities to employ these other domains to the benefit of your corporate domain.

Q:

Updating design affecting rankings
Can content updates and design changes be made without losing current rank status? Is it more feasible to use my current site to enhance, or create an entirely new site for construction and enhancement, while my current site remains untouched?

A:

Yes, particularly if they are implemented by 3PRIME in expert SpiderGourmet style. We want every step to be a step up. A redesign should be no different. We would want to employ your main domain as your core website since we know it has a certain amount of authority already. Enhancing existing positions is more quickly achieved than beating an existing website with a new one.

Q:

Proprietary link building system
Do you have a link system that will NOT compromise my standing with the search engines? Are you able to clean up current links that may be hindering my site's rankings?

A:

Yes, our reciprocal link building processes and practices are tempered by years of experience. We will DEFINITELY clean up whoever the website links out to and implement our own system in its place. Existing listings of related industry websites may be used in another manner that simple reciprocal linking.

Q:

Link-to-Us suggestions
Are you capable of creating a "Create a link" section on the site, where relevant but non-competitor sites can exchange links with us?

A:

Q:

Reviewing competitor websites
Are you willing to thoroughly review the sites of my competition to improve and enhance our own site, without in any way infringing upon the copyright protection of these sites?

A:

Yes, in general we already know what methods deliver the most reliable results but how these are used vary across different industries. Websites that are current at the top of the stack need to be analyzed to develop unique tactics within our strategy for your website optimization campaign.

Q:

We will ensure that Google is completely satisfied with what it finds on your domain. We will let you know what we are doing so that you are assured that we are following through on our strategy as we collect our fees.

Once the agreement paperwork is completed and our initial client discovery document is completed, we will determine keywords within 3 days and generate an initial baseline report detailing current rankings for the selected keywords. Your website will begin to undergo changes immediately.

Q:

Updating your website
I just updated my website. Do I need to submit the website to the search engines?

A:

No! The major search engines all use robots, called spiders, to review pages on websites it knows about. If your page has been revised since its last visit, the spider should, if not asked not to, pick up your changes and update the search engine’s index to reflect your current web pages.

Q:

Analyzing your competition
Why do you perform appropriate online competitive market analysis?

A:

If our goal is to supplant our competitors search engine presence, then it is a good idea to observe what they have done to earn their place. We also want to ensure that your current presence is comparable to industry leaders. The number of competing, relevant web pages, which search engine term as "results", may affect how quickly your keyword ranking goals can be realized.

Q:

Keyword research
Does SpiderGourmet research and select target keyword phrases for each campaign?

A:

Based upon what we know about your goals and the competitive landscape, we measure the demand for keyword specific information from search engines. The number of times a term is searched for is a major consideration when determining the direction of your campaign.

Q:

Homepage importance
Why does SpiderGourmet's service attribute preferential focus on homepage development?

A:

Your homepage is the most important page of your website. Your search marketing professionals know that the first impression is often the most important. Your homepage will be optimized for the most competitive phrase at the core of the keyword phrases selected for your SEO campaign.

Q:

Adding new pages and content
Why must we invest in the creation of new pages for selected keyword phrases?

A:

The development of new pages targeting desired phrases is important because to earn our place as one of the top 10 most relevant results, we need to best answer the implied questions suggested by the selected keyword phrases on which your optimization campaign is founded.

Q:

What makes up content pages
Will these new pages proudly display relevant content approved or created by our organization?

A:

Absolutely! Each new page optimized for specific keyword phrases will need content. We can help you create it but in our experience, product and service explanations built around your competitive advantages are more effective in generating new business for your organization than keyword dense copy merely describing your products and services.

Q:

long term optimization strategies
Will a long term optimization campaign actually optimize all the pages in the website?

A:

By using your whole website, we are better able to earn rankings while creating a gourmet environment for search engines to navigate your site. Optimization methods are discussed elsewhere. Our methods never include spam tactics and are always implemented with the visitor experience in mind.

Q:

Link building as a part of optimization
Is it necessary to invest in a reciprocal linking program in an optimization campaign?

A:

This is an important step especially since the major search engines rely on links to catalog the internet and determine how authoritative your website is from their birds-eye perspective. We will create at least one page on your website to display links to other relevant websites. This is used solely for the purpose of receiving the benefits from their link to us. Our links out cost your website nothing and the research and acquisition of quality link partners is critical to the success of your campaign.

Q:

Linking out to other websites
Why do we benefit by linking out to other websites?

A:

Besides link popularity building which involves linking out to relevant websites, links from pages of content that pertain to your chosen keyword phrases are directed to sites which pertain the writing we produce to enhance your website. Relevant outbound links add authority to content, in the manner most attributed to search engine ranking criteria; hypertext references, better known as linking.

Links referencing other websites are often attributed with both a rel="nofollow" as recommended by conventional link popularity wisdom, and always with a target="blank" so that any clicks on those links leaves the visitor still on your domain, which is where we want them.

In short, these are there for the purposes of earning the pages of your website top placement for the topics to which they relate.
